STONE&STROP
I'm passionate about knives and the art of sharpening. My story began with a love of cooking and the frustration of using dull knives. I knew there had to be a better way to maintain the sharpness of my knives, and so began my journey into the world of knife sharpening.
I spent years researching the best sharpening techniques, experimenting with different tools and methods, and honing my skills through countless hours of practice. Along the way, I developed a deep appreciation for the intricacies of knife anatomy and the importance of maintaining the proper angle and pressure during the sharpening process.
Precision cold sharpening with minimal steel removal is my method of choice as it maintains factory temper which in turn keeps the edge sharp longer. I do this by hand sharpening on Japanese wet stones (#300 grit to #10,000 fine grit ) for a fine polished edge.
I test all customers knives using an industrial edge tester to ensure razor sharp results as well. That means Japanese, European and American knives of high quality, single or double bevel; can benefit from my services
As my reputation for quality knife sharpening services grew, so did my business. Today, Stone&Strop is a trusted name in the industry.
At Stone&Strop, we take a meticulous approach to knife sharpening. Before we begin the sharpening process, we carefully inspect the blade under magnification to identify any nicks, chips, or other imperfections that may impact the final result. By examining the edge up close, we can ensure that we're starting with the best possible foundation for sharpening.
Once we've inspected the blade and identified any issues, we move on to identifying the proper angle or bevel for sharpening. This is a crucial step, as it determines the shape and sharpness of the final edge. Our experienced sharpeners use a combination of skill and precision tools to identify the optimal angle for each blade, ensuring that we achieve the best possible edge for your knife.
With the angle identified, we move on to the actual sharpening process. We use a variety of sharpening tools and techniques to remove any dullness and restore the edge to its former sharpness. Once the blade has been sharpened, we move on to stropping, which involves polishing the edge to ensure that it's razor-sharp and durable. Our stropping process involves using a leather strop and polishing compound to create a mirror-like finish on the blade. The end result is a knife that's not only sharp, but also built to last.
We use specialized cleaning solutions and techniques to remove any dirt, grime, or other debris from the shear and its individual components. We also take care to sanitize the shear to ensure that it's free from any harmful bacteria or germs.
Our expert sharpeners use a combination of tools and techniques to sharpen the blade and other components to a razor-sharp edge. We take care to sharpen each component to the appropriate level of sharpness, ensuring that the shear performs to its full potential.
